'WITHIN THESE FOUR WALLS' - ARCHISOURCE HOMETOWN COLLECTIVE DRAWING 2020
As part of a collective drawing challenge by ArchiSource intended to bring together designers and creatives during the UK’s Covid-19 Lockdown, the brief tasked each submission to imagine a scene that encompassed ‘Lockdown’ within the boundaries of a single isometric cube.
My entry played with the form of the isometric cube, unfolding and unwrapping the home during lockdown. Within these four walls is intended to comment on the way in which the home took on the roles of office, nursery, school, cinema, restaurant and stadium during lockdown. I enjoyed playing with scale and graphics to create the piece, experimenting with a more illustrative style of presentation. I used Adobe Illustrator to draw each element using an isometric grid and it was a welcomed challenge attempting to translate hand-drawing in iso to digitally drawing styles.
My entry was featured as part of their top entries on the ArchiSource Instagram page and within a live virtual drawing, which has since been turned into a range of ‘souvenirs’ including a hardback book of all entries. I really valued being part of this community project and celebrating the works of other students and designers.
