As part of a new competition by Playhouse created to mediate designers and creatives during the UK’s Covid-19 Lockdown, the brief asked for a game design that can be played within in the home using only items that would be typically available.
My design ‘Bedtime Stories’ played off a activity I fondly remember from Primary School, in which a group tells a story adding a sentence at a time each. The game imagined a mystery box of items gathered around the house that had to be included in the story, and be used in the most imaginative way. This project allowed me to embrace a whimsical freedom and consider concept and creativity on a much smaller human scale to what I am accustomed to in University projects. I particularly enjoyed putting to use my Illustrator skills to create a beautiful set of graphics for the game design, and experimenting with a more colourful, youthful style.
My design was featured in their second wave of successful entries on the competition Social Media and will be featured in a book published by Playhouse.
